2007
We couldn't
afford to take our VW over so obtained a 1995 Ford
D type camper, a Bigfoot model with all the mods and cons except typically for
American campers the bed was the last thing to be built and was only 5ft long!!!
However the vehicle itself which only had about 32,000 miles on it proved to be
a work horse and took us 18,000 miles from our freinds in Kentucky who bought it
and fixed it up, through the middle and north of America, Canada then south
along the West coast route 101 back through the Grand canyon
and onto Florida before returning to our friends in Kentucky.
The purpose of the trip was to visit as many National parks in the time we had
(90 days) and in that time we covered 26 of the parks, each one in unique both
geographically and environmentally.

2011
A bit of a non event as it turned out as the vehicle, a 1989 Chevrolet mobile
home let us down to the extent that we spent almost all our time between Wallmart
carparks and garages. Coupled with that the worst winter for 136 years in the
USA due to a southerly drop in the jet stream meant snow as far as Houston and
freezing temperatures right down to Miami. So we came back early to the UK and
arrived just after the 1 month white out across Europe due to the same meteorological
factors.
2016
In
2016 we hope to return to visit some of the parks and places we missed the first
time round such as Alaska and visit the East coast of Canada to see relatives
and enjoy the amazing scenery of the North Eastern USA area.
