1978: This is the first VW I traveled in. Selected from out of
600 applicants I traveled with another photographer John, to capture the essence
of the Middle East culture in medium format pictures to be included in
educational media by a publishing house in London. The journey took 6 months and
covered 27,000 Kms passing through Europe, Siria, Lebanon, Jordan, Saudi Arabia
and over rough desert and mountain tracks to Yemen. From there we returned Via
the UAE, Saudi, Jordan and Syria before re-entering Turkey and Europe
again.

Our orange Californian bay window
2008 Our split screen VW bought in the USA and brought to
the UK
with a view to selling: The Banking crisis and stock market/economic crash meant
our investment made
just £47 pounds profit on an outlay of £15,000!!!
.
2006
Our latest vehicle a 1986 VW Syncro Joker 4X4 with front and
rear differential locks
a 2.1 litre Petrol DJ engine
It is converted to run on LPG/Autogas as
well.
This has two LPG tanks holding 100 litres of Gas, a 60 litre Petrol Tank and a
further
30 liter gas tank to supply the fridge and cooker. Its great for towing our WW2
Jeep
2006
Purchased this in 2006 and converted to run on LPG to cut down
costs.
Drove to the Sierra Nevada in Spain and discovered a) the LPG fuel tanks didnt
have enough range between garages ie 350 km and b) we needed satnav onto which
we put the European LPG database to find garages more easily since the one in
Barcelona took 4 hrs to find without one and 20 minutes with the TomTom we
bought which we use all the time.
